Welcome to Beech Class
Year 3
Class Teacher: Rachel Patterson-Azzopardi

Learning Journey
Year 3's geography question is 'As a writer can I retell William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet?'
Reading
Year 3 children read daily in school and this can take many forms. As a class, we enjoy sharing and discussing our ‘class read’; the children need to access a range of texts throughout the day from across the curriculum; we have designated reading sessions which allow us to work on techniques such as inference and the exploration of vocabulary; and it is really important that the children continue to read for pleasure.
All children are expected to read at home daily for at least 15 minutes. For further comprehension practice, after completing a book, children are to quiz on Accelerated Reader at school or at home- the expectation is for children to complete at least one quiz a week.

PE Days
Our PE days are on Tuesdays and Fridays. Children are to arrive at school dressed in their PE kit on these days.
Outdoor Learning
Beech Class are enjoying their Forest School sessions on a Monday and need to come into school wearing warm clothes, their school jumper/cardigan and school shoes. Wellies or outdoor shoes need to be brought in a separate bag. Like in all classes across the school, we enjoy learning outside so please make sure that your child brings a coat to school each day- we will let you know if they need wellies for particular days.
Home learning
Additional homework will be set via Class Dojo.
