I am incredibly lucky, as not only have I taught at St John’s since 2010, but I actually attended the school myself as a child! For seven years of my childhood, I was able to explore the nature trail, investigate all of the beautiful grounds and participate in wonderful opportunities within the school community. I feel privileged to be able to offer pupils the same exciting and engaging opportunities, which I still remember fondly today.
I have spent a number of years teaching in Reception; sharing those precious first memories of school with many, many children! I have also enjoyed moving up through the school; mirroring the creative and hands-on approach from the Early Years curriculum. I am thrilled to be able to return to Walnut Class this year. My aim is to ensure that every child is given the opportunity to achieve their own potential through fun, engaging learning experiences which enable them to develop and thrive in their own way.
I am also part of the school's Senior Leadership Team; leading across EYFS and KS1 and also overseeing Phonics and early reading. This is a particular passion of mine, as I strongly believe that it is every child’s right, to be given the tools and knowledge in order to become confident and passionate readers.
I have two young children of my own, so life is very busy at the moment! Outside of school, I love spending time with family and friends, especially exploring a wide range of places outdoors.

I’ve been teaching in the South Hams for the last decade and am really excited to be joining the team at Totnes St John. I can’t wait to become part of the amazing school community here and to get to know the children and families.
I love teaching and I love learning and I’m hoping that the children and I can learn and grow together. I believe everyone has something special to offer the world and want to help children see that in themselves. I hope our time, inside and outside the classroom, will not just be about academic learning but also about learning how to believe in ourselves and to be proud of who we are and where we come from.
In my spare time, I like being outside, walking or running or just enjoying the sunshine. My family are very important to me and I enjoy spending time with my two teenage boys and husband. I love science and the natural world and am a keen gardener. I also like trying to learn trying to learn languages – with mixed success!
