Attendance

At Totnes St John's,we understand attendance is about belonging, learning and wellbeing.

We know that children are most likely to thrive when they can attend school regularly. We also recognise that, for some children and families, there may be times when attendance is more challenging. Our approach is rooted in partnership, understanding and support, with a shared commitment to helping every child attend as successfully as they can and feel valued as part of our school community.

Our Shared Expectation:

We aim for every child to attend school every day they are well enough or able to do so.

We encourage families to avoid taking holidays during term time wherever possible.

If attendance becomes difficult, we ask families to talk to us early so we can help.

How We Will Support You:

We will listen and work alongside families

We will seek to understand and remove barriers

We will take a child-centred, compassionate approach

We will celebrate good attendance and improved attendance

Please come and speak to your child’s class teacher or one of the attendance team if attendance is becoming difficult, early support makes a difference.
