Our Christian Ethos
As a Church of England school, St John's is linked with the local parish church, St John's the Evangelist, in Bridgetown. The link between 'church in school' and 'school in church' is strong: the whole school visits the church regularly for key events such as Harvest Festival, Christmas and Easter, with additional welcome services for Reception and Leavers' Service for Year 6 in the summer. In addition to visiting the church, our vicar, Revd Julian Ould, regularly attends the school for explorations of prayer, spirituality and school Collective Worships.
"Roots & Fruits"
We use the Imaginor 'Roots & Fruits' programme to teach Christian values themes and collective worship in a creative way. This is consolidated by our 'Open The Book' assembly programme of bible stories, taught by volunteers from our local community as well as guests who come in to work with children on exploration of the Bible, world religions and understanding meaningful links with our daily lives.
Although we are a church school we are completely inclusive and welcome children and families of all religions and denominations.
